Creative Moxie brought together three festivals, CIM Forum, CGA Belgrade, and Martovski Festival, to build stronger, more inclusive platforms for young and female creatives in the Western Balkans. Through a series of peer-to-peer exchanges, workshops, and new programming formats, the project focused on transforming festival ecosystems by boosting organisational agility, improving communication strategies, and expanding regional collaboration.
Over the course of the project, partners delivered three peer-learning workshops, mapped new programming strategies, and introduced targeted initiatives to tackle structural and thematic gaps. The Martovski Festival launched a dedicated Discussion Forum: Women in Film, gathering over 20 speakers from across the region for panels, screenings, and presentations focused on gender equality and creative leadership. CIM Forum in Kotor curated a new programme arc under the Creative Moxie label, spotlighting digital art, education, and feminist practices, and attracting more than 120 participants. CGA Belgrade featured sessions led by emerging creators and industry professionals on topics such as negotiation skills, immersive content production, and digital storytelling.
All partners introduced improved digital communication strategies, adopted new tools and platforms, and integrated external advisors to address internal capacity gaps. Joint campaigns reached over 1.7 million views, with more than 85% of engagement coming from non-followers, confirming success in reaching new audiences. The project also piloted a six-month on-the-job training programme for a junior communication specialist, resulting in the development of new in-house expertise and audience insights.
By weaving together organisational development, digital innovation, and creative advocacy, Creative Moxie laid the foundation for long-term transformation across the regional festival landscape, amplifying underrepresented voices and strengthening cultural cooperation in Serbia and Montenegro.
Implementing partners: Srpska filmska asocijacija (Serbia), Dom omladine Beograda (Serbia), and Art 365 (Montenegro).
The Creative Moxie project was supported by the British Council through the “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans” project, funded by the European Union. CC4WBs aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.
